Michael practises in commercial and public law, specialising in taxation and revenue law. He regularly appears in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and Federal Court of Australia, and gives advice in relation to commercial and tax issues.
Before coming to the Bar, Michael practised as a solicitor at Allens, Herbert Smith Freehills and Corrs Chambers Westgarth and was Tipstaff and Researcher to the President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal, the Hon J L B Allsop AC.
Michael is Chair of the Tax Institute Dispute Resolution Technical Committee and represents the Tax Institute on the ATO Dispute Resolution Working Group. He is also a member of the Australian Bar Association Taxation Committee and Law Council Business Law Section Taxation Committee.
Michael is a casual academic at the University of New South Wales where he lectures in Advanced Tax Law, Taxation of Commercial Structures and Corporate Tax Strategy.
Michael holds a Master of Laws and a Master of Taxation from the University of Sydney and a Master of International Tax from the University of Melbourne. He is a PhD candidate and graduate researcher at the Melbourne Law School. His PhD thesis examines the principles, design and implementation of corporate minimum taxes.
Michael is a reporter for the Commonwealth Law Reports.
